Many people may think that only the adults can feel stress and depression but the truth is that even children can also experience these things. As you can see, there are many children who can be very depressed, stressed, and very anxious. And most of the time, these anxieties on children is caused by their health problems. This is the reason why anxiety is very evident to children who have asthma.

Why are they anxious because of asthma? The thought of their past asthma attack can cause anxiety for the children. And a study stated that art can help children be relieved from this problem.

Their parents can get art therapy for their children. The therapy will include crayons and other art materials with the help of an art therapist so they will be able to express or translate their feelings on the art work. According to Anya Beebe, who is an art therapist, the therapy is not about creating beautiful art pictures but will help them be in touch with their deepest emotions and deal with it. And usually, the children who have these anxieties feel better after they finished their art work.

Working and Snacking: Not a Good Thing

Let’s face it. A lot of people these days are having problem with weight gain. And most of the time, this is very noticeable for people who are working in their homes. Primarily, since they are just in the house, food is just very accessible in their homes. They can just stand and grab any from their refrigerators. This leads to continuous snacking and thus gaining more weight in the process.

If you are among these homebased employees that notice continuous snacking, you have to do a number of things in order to help you prevent snacking and help you lose weight.

First, you have to make sure that food is not within the accessible area of your workstation. The accessibility of food in your computer area will only increase the instances of snacking on impulse. Also, make sure not to associate computer with food. Hence, it is better to eat on the dining area at an allotted time instead of eating in front of the computer.

Second, be a watchful eater. Once you are about to grab a snack from your refrigerator, check first whether you are really eating because you are hungry. Most of the time, eating can be one way to alleviate work-related stress. If you think that you are not really hungry, don’t eat that snack and look for other ways to divert your attention from food.

So if you want to prevent weight gain due to snacking at home, make sure to do these steps and you will surely be successful on your goal.

Introducing The Geek Desk For A Healthier Back

Are you the type of person who cannot sit nor stand too long? If you happen to have work that requires you stay in just one position, then you might find working tables from GeekDesk very helpful.

This could work well especially for writers who always seem to not have the chance anymore to get out of their seats, meeting deadlines and stuck with being just a total nerd. On the other hand, to be able to shift into another position, like working while standing up can really help not just ease your back but your writer’s block.

Their wide desk which measures 45 inches can be bought for $749 while the 79 inch model is priced at $799. With this furniture, shifting from sitting to standing and vice versa can really be done smoothly. This could also help fight obesity since studies say that you tend to get hungrier when you slump most of the time on your chair.

So practice something new… work while standing up.

Engaging In Deep Conversations Can Make You Happier

Despite the usual perception that to talk deep all the time about what’s happening in and around your life can make you feel depressed and unhappy, well think again. A psychologist from the University of Arizona by the name of Matthias Mehl, created an experiment which led to the conclusion that those who engage in substantive conversations are more likely to be happier than the rest who only engage in small talk.

There were basically just two simple reasons. First is that we are social beings who have the need to interact with others. While the second reason lies in our longing to find the deeper meaning in the lives we live every day.

So probably this time, aside from just giving love, we can also encourage other people to make each other happier by being involved with quality conversations and less of the crappy, shallow talks.

Cinema Warning: Going To The Movies Can Be Dangerous For Your Health

It was in one recent article that the Chairman of Sony Picture Entertainment Chairman Michael Lynton made a gentle scolding to the public on how unhealthy the kinds of food being served in theaters. He took the time to remind all owners of these theaters that health surveys say that almost 1 out of 3 young people already suffer from obesity. This then puts everyone’s health at a higher risk of having asthma, heart failure or diabetes.

Health experts agreed that humongous portions of popcorn and candies can really be a major factor in causing such diseases. Nevertheless, parents say that it won’t be that easy to give their kids instead healthy snack bars or a frozen yogurt.

To control what is being offered in theaters as snacks can really play a crucial role in everyone’s health, I believe. But like everything else in life, if put in moderation, we can still not deprive ourselves of these foods that simply make us happy. Not unless you go to the theaters every day.

What do you think?

The Taste of Healthy Living

People would like to be healthy but sometimes, the will power may not be enough to do away with the deliciously unhealthy stuff. With this, most people fail to do their part in living healthy just to continue eating the stuff that they like.

However, it is possible for people to make their favorite “unhealthy” food healthier by changing some of the ingredients. This means that instead of using the original or usual ingredients with better alternatives from oils, shortening, seasoning, dressings and a lot more. And if you will look at the market these days, there are now lots of manufacturers that make their product have smaller amount of fats, salt, and others. By using these ingredients, people will be healthier yet get tasty meals each and every time.

Aside from using alternatives, there are some ingredients that can be totally removed on the food. For example, removing whipped cream on milk shakes will be helpful to everyone’s health as calories have been removed.

Remember, healthy foods can have the best taste as long as the one who will prepare their food know these alternatives. In this way, people can step a level higher towards living a healthier life, be at their best, and live longer.
